Curated by José Esparza Chong Cuy
Campeche is pleased to participate for the first time in the second edition of ArPa São Paulo, with a new selection of paintings by Mexican artist Jou Morales.
Through this new series, the artist reflects upon the forces of capitalism, the culture of overconsumption and how current systems permeate thought; resulting in the loss of vitality, intellect and the erosion of human spirit. For Morales, the acceptance of these realities rejects the possibility of generating or own universes.

For the artist, imagination emerges as an axis and form of resistance against the capitalist imposition. Through his paintings, Jou presents a series of amorphous elements (micro and macro) that that stand up, throb, self-construct, mutate, mix, and collapse in arid and stony landscapes in which it is impossible to recognize any trace of the aesthetic paraphernalia of everyday life. The landscape and its elements turn into silent spectators who are witnesses of cycles, cataclysms and global change. Everything disappears and the ruins appear over and over again.
