Jou Morales (b. 1990, Oaxaca de Juárez, Mexico) has a BA in Plastic and Visual Arts at the Universidad Autónoma “Benito Juárez” of Oaxaca (2011 -2015) and the and the Clinics for the Specialization in Contemporary Art for Oaxaca (CEACO) at the Curtiduría Espacio Contemporáneo (2015- 2016). He is co-founder and member of YOPE projects, a space dedicated to the diffusion of local, national and international contemporary art. They have been awarded the Patronato de Arte Contemporáneo (PAC) in 2019, Fondo de Apoyo Patronato de Arte Contemporáneo (PAC) Covid-19 in 2020, and Curarte es Guelaguetza of Secretaría de Cultura from the Mexican Government and the Secretary of Culture and Art of Oaxaca in 2020. His work is a mixture of imaginaries, references, sounds, strident and hypnotic colors of contemporary culture that are posed as interpretations and/or presage of multiple events where amorphous beings and events where amorphous beings rise, self-construct, palpitate, mutate and collapse, carrying the weight of their history as a transversal narrative of our historicity.

Mortero, Villa Magdalena, San Sebastián Pais Vasco, Spain, Mobile Suit, Campeche, Mexico City, Mexico, Llanero, Residencia 797, Guadalajara, Mexico, Atlas de la Loma, kurimanzutto, Mexico City, Mexico. Carroñero, Instituto de Artes Gráficas de Oaxaca (IAGO), Oaxaca, Mexico. Among others. He has exhibited his work in Musée International des Arts Modeste, UK, Friche la Belle de Mai,UK, Kurimanzutto Gallery, Mexico City, Instituto de Artes Gráficas de Oaxaca, Oaxaca, among others. In 2020 and 2023 received the grant for Young Creators of the Sistema de Apoyos a la Creación y Proyectos Culturales (SACPC), formerly FONCA.
